Contact Pottery by Jackie

From her studio nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Chatham-Kent, she has spent over 25 years developing her skill as a ceramic artist (aka Potter).  She has transformed the timeless craft to reflect her personal expression, creating one-of-a-kind handmade stoneware pottery, combining traditional hand-building and wheel-thrown techniques to create artisan pieces that are both functional and visually appealing.

Jackie’s journey into ceramics began with a fascination for the tactile nature of clay and the endless possibilities of surface design.  Each piece is thoughtfully crafted, reflecting a deep appreciation for form and function.  Her pieces invite individuals to experience the beauty of locally handmade functional art that is infused with passion, artistic expression and an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.

You will see many types of timeless techniques reflected in her hand-built and wheel-thrown work: slab construction, pinching, coiling, glaze and luster finishes, underglaze hand painting, underglaze transfers, sgraffito, carving, mishima inlay, mono printing, wax & paper resist, slip trailing, stamping, and water etching.  Most of her work goes through a two step kiln firing process using cone 6 oxidation process and she works with white, grey and brown coloured clay.

Jackie has also been involved in teaching hand building pottery to the community, increasing their understanding of ceramic processes, ensuring that the historical value and techniques aren’t lost.  Her passion not only shines through her creations but also in her role as an educator, inspiring a new generation of potters.
